Meet Patricia Pinto
Pilates educator. Movement professional. Mentor to 400+ Mat Pilates instructors.
Patricia Pinto has been teaching fitness and movement since 2008 and Classical and Contemporary Mat Pilates since 2012.
She discovered Pilates while recovering from a yoga-related hamstring injury that led to sciatica. What began as rehabilitation became an essential part of her movement practice and teaching career, combining Pilates' therapeutic precision with a strength-based foundation.
Patricia received her first Mat certification through the Equinox Pilates Institute and trained in Mat and the Full Apparatus program at Erika Bloom Pilates in New York City.
Her additional education spans Barre, Sculpt, Yoga, HIIT, anatomy, and meditation.
Since 2020, Patricia has led sold-out Pilates Mat Teacher Trainings in both virtual and in-person formats.

A Mat Pilates-specific certification or Comprehensive Pilates certification that includes formal Mat training
At least 50 documented hours of Mat Pilates teaching experience
- Previous certifications are reviewed individually and do not automatically waive training requirements.

What is included in the Lincoln certification?
The program covers Classical and Contemporary Mat Pilates, Sculpt applications, functional anatomy, modifications, therapeutics, props, musicality, group fitness skills, practice teaching, mentorship, business fundamentals, and more.
Do I have to attend both Lincoln dates?
Yes. The group sessions are October 3 and October 10 from 2:00–6:30 PM CST, and attendance at both is required.
Is there work outside the two Lincoln sessions?
Yes. The certification also includes virtual components and structured observation/practice hours through in-person classes and Pilates Anytime.
Virtual · One-on-One
Is the virtual program just a prerecorded course?
No. The One-on-One Virtual Mat Pilates Teacher Training is a personalized, mentorship-based experience that combines flexibility with individualized guidance and structured training.
Can I complete the virtual training from outside Nebraska?
Yes. The virtual pathway is designed to be accessible from anywhere.
How much is virtual training?
The standard investment is $649. SWET participants can save $100 using promo code SWET, bringing the investment to $549.

Do I need previous Pilates teaching experience?
No. Aspiring instructors are welcome. The Lincoln group training provides a comprehensive foundation for those preparing to teach Mat Pilates.
Is the training recognized for continuing education?
The comprehensive training is recognized by the National Academy of Sports Medicine for continuing education and by Yoga Alliance for continuing education credits.
Does certification guarantee a teaching position at SWET?
No. Anyone interested in teaching at SWET must successfully complete our hiring process, SWET format-specific training, and instructor audition.
Can I use my certification somewhere besides SWET?
Yes. Your Mat Pilates certification belongs to you and can be used independently of SWET.
What if I'm already certified?
Candidates with qualifying Mat Pilates certification and at least 50 documented Mat Pilates teaching hours may submit their credentials to SWET for individual review. Request a certification review →
